Like the 2nd week of the Formula 1 testing in Spain, my Ironman training has followed a similar format:
Monday - got in some early miles with a 5 mile run for the day but due to too many sandwiches at lunch, I didn't make it out for the afternoon session
Tuesday - following technical issues with the rear suspension (legs) no running was possible
Wednesday - Tuesdays issues were mostly fixed so we put some serious miles on the clock in a morning session of yoga and 5 miles run. The afternoon session saw short runs (gym circuits) go successfully
Thursday - due to the miles completed on Wednesday, the drivers split today in half with myself taking the wheel in the afternoon. Race sim was completed with an hour spinning, a quick pitstop and then out of a hour tchoukball training
Friday - again I was only on the track for the afternoon session but it consisted a medium stint of 2.5km rowing, a combo of short runs (I'm the gym) and a long final run (3km in the pool)
Saturday - With the end of the testing week completed, I heading for a relaxation day in the spas and sauna are to local area
After the week, I did manage to get some feedback from the top professional in the field:
Button: “There are still quite a few areas that we need to work on, but overall during the tests we have made improvements in many areas"
Kimi: "It was OK"
Ricciardo: :D
Hamilton: "It's the ugliest thing ever to been seen in the sport"
Berni: "I think we can make it more interesting so that every 90 seconds, the slowest loses an item of clothing until the final sprint out were the first one to finsh gets the only towel at the end of the pool to head back to the pits with."
