Who are they?
The society are the only UK wide charity for everyone with a bleeding disorder. It is a community of members, supporters and healthcare professionals.
Their work is driven by a small London based team working alongside volunteers from all over the country.
They have supported me growing up as a young boy so it's time for me to return the favor and help them continue their work.
What do they do?
The charity support people with conditions such as haemophilia (like myself) and von Willebrands, their families and carers for more than 60 years.
They provide information to aid informed decisions, free membership of a supportive community and services dedicated to the needs of specific groups.
Bleeding Disorders
Important things to remember about the circulatory system is that it is in fine equlibrium between flowing in normal conditions and stopping to clot when injury occurs.
Abnormal bleeding can be caused from problems with blood platelets, clotting factors, von Willebrand factor, fibrin, the vessel wall and the organs that produce these factors.
